Episode 2. Suddenly Werewolves

I was just sitting here at work minding my own business. I was working hard (or hardly working) when…

SUDDENLY WEREWOLVES!

Werewolves were everywhere! Attack me from all sides! Thankfully I still had the time-warping blade form the fallen ninjas and quickly slashed a hole in time and space (knowing full well that if the werewolves and I were to slug it out in my office the collateral damage would be unfathomable). The portal I created was large enough to suck every last one of the werewolves and I into the black nothingness in the space between spaces.

The dimension we entered was one where time and space was distorted which resulted in my battle with the werewolves lasting  years, yet only seconds. It took place over a space equivalent of miles, yet only inches. The exhaustion from fighting them for such a long, yet short, time began to wear upon me so I cut another hole in reality and leapt through. The werewolves quickly followed me through.

We found ourselves in the center of the great city of Atlantis! The glory and splendor of the city was so great and fantastic that both the werewolves and I were briefly stunned by the awe inspiring wonder. The shock at the magnificence quickly wore off and the werewolves and quickly resumed our war.

My ninjato (which I had named Dawnblade) hacked and slashed through werewolf after werewolf yet their numbers were seemingly limitless. Fang and claw, maw and tooth were thrust upon me. The battle at this point had worn me down enough that I was sure death was upon me. One of the werewolves was able to get a lucky blow upon my arm and the Dawnblade was wrenched from my grasp. As dozens, if not hundreds, or werewolves leapt to consume me as I closed my eyes to embrace painful ending that awaited me.

Yet, instead of an agonizing death from my limbs being torn from my body, I instead felt a renewed vigor instantly build inside me. I opened my eyes to see a small army of Atlantean warriors, adorned in the most beautiful and vivid scarlet, had intervened and prevented the werewolves from their vicious murder. Behind me I turned to see the leader of the scarlet Atlanteans, General Agriff Daarkonaut, charging me with an Atlantean power device. The power that flowed in my veins was unimaginable. I was installed with the determination and will of the entire Atlantean race.

I pulled myself up and recovered the Dawnblade and joined the scarlet crusaders in the onslaught against the werewolves. The battle was considerably favorable to our side and it seemed that victory was assured when…

SUDDENLY ATLANTEANS!

BAD ONES!

A group a rebel Atlanteans, dressed in the deepest and most powerful blue, appeared from seemingly nowhere and joined the werewolf horde. This not only evened the odds but actually pushed them slightly into the enemies favor. A battle line had form spanning the majority of the city and the very heart of Atlantis had been turned into a full-fledged was zone. The red-armored Atlanteans fell on one side and the canine warriors and blue-armored were dying on the other.

“The rebels were powerful before!” Agriff shouted to me while shoving his gunsword into the heart of a werewolf. “But with the help of these feral beasts I am afraid we will be overrun!”

“Hold the line as long as you can! I will go find help!” I shouted to him over the sound of the dying scream of the blue Atlantean I had slain. Agriff was obviously confused on what possible help I could find but in all the adventures we had been through (as seen in episode six and eleven) he had learned to trust me. He nodded his approval they turned to finish off a rebel warrior.

I used the Dawnblade to cut open a portal and dove through. One of the largest of the rebels dove through after me and the epic battle that ensued spanned centuries. (I rarely do this but I shall call this warrior by name in my writings to honor his heroic memory.) The great warrior, who was called Thklark in his native tongue, and I battle back forth throughout the span time. As we fought the entire life of not only our world but countless others flashed before us. His mighty broadsword, which through the course of our battle was named Thunderbringer for the mighty sound it made when it clashed against the Dawnblade, was much larger and more powerful than the Dawnblade, but my blade was much quicker and faster.

The power that Thklark swung Thunderbringer would had utterly destroyed any average man. It would have been far too powerful for me as well except I had been empowered by the Atlantean power device. Our battle was so epic and so powerful that ripples of our fight phased through to various planets and inhabited dimensions spawning legends and myths in the more primitive civilizations and curiosity and confusion in the more advanced ones (this caused confusion when I later met the avian race Hawklens who believed me to be a god in episode four).

Thklark’s speed was surprising for how large he was. Even though he was strangely fast, he wasn’t fast enough. I was able to slip past his defense after millennia of fighting and thrust the Dawnblade into his heart. At his dying request I took the legendary Thunderbringer and added it to my arsenal. I also promised Thklark that his family would sparred as they did not support the rebel cause as he did. I laid his body to rest in the Valley of Lights on the planet Thoderla.

I quickly returned to my journey and warp-traveled to my destination; ancient Greece. There I found my good friend King Leonidas whom I requested from three hundred of his finest warriors. When he inquired why I asked for three hundred I told him that history had proven that three hundred Spartans were a force to be reckoned with. He didn’t understand because during his timeline the three hundred had not stood up to the Persians yet. Nevertheless he granted my wish and three hundred Spartans followed me to the fabled city of Atlantis.

Unlike the first time the werewolves and I entered Atlantis the Spartans were not stunned by the beauty or shocked by the magnificence. These battle hardened warriors were unlike any others in time. Instantly, without warning or hesitation the Spartans lunged upon the blue-armored Atlanteans and the werewolves. The tide of war turned instantly as the Spartans pushed back the rebels and beasts. They were fluid and deadly. Powerful yet poised. They made almost embarrassingly quick work of the werewolves and the remaining rebels fled back to the holes from which they came from.

“I love these warriors you brought back.” Agriff said as he slapped me on the back. “I would love to have a few of them around to finish dealing with the rebel menace.” As soon as he spoke to Spartans stepped forward.

“King Leonidas has commissioned the two of us to stay behind and lend our aide to you. An ally to the time-walker is an ally to Sparta.” They bowed there head as a sign of respect to their new commander.

Agriff was obviously shocked but thankful. “Thank you.” He said to me. “Again I appreciate all that you have done for me and my people. After the incident with the spider (episode six) I didn’t think we would be seeing you again.” He gave me a manly hug then held me at arm’s length. “If you would excuse me now I need to see to the rebels. Rumor has it that they have a device that could bring down all of Atlantis. I must find them before such a weapon can be used. Do you care to join me?”

I regretfully shook my head. “I would love to my friend, but I need to get back to work!” Agriff nodded even though his eyes showed slight disappointment.

I quickly took the remaining Spartans back to their own time where I thank Leonidas for his help. After that I traveled back home, to my job, where I continued to work hard (or hardly work). I pondered the incredibly journey I had just partook. All the while I was cautious of my surrounding because you never know when; SUDDENLY WEREWOLVES!
